Why subscribe to What Good Stories?
This is a (free) storytelling circuit breaker that I send out once or twice a month. A place to swap stories about stories and content. A lot of the stuff I share comes from beyond the third sector and everyone’s welcome here, but I have non-profit comms and stories folk in mind – because I’m one.
My background is in editorial and charity storytelling – creating and commissioning. I see a lot of dull and dodgy content, I’ve made some of it myself, but this is all about appreciation, curiosity and occasional advice (not all mine, thank God).

Stay up-to-date
Never miss an update – every new post is sent directly to your email inbox. For a spam-free, ad-free reading experience, plus audio and community features, get the Substack app.

Be part of a community of people who like talking about stories, content and non-profit comms. Participate in the comments section and send me unsolicited feedback, which I will respond to if it’s nice.
Request a creative chat
I offer free 30-minute unblocking sessions to subscribers – I get to talk about stories, you get to bring a new perspective to your challenge or idea. Macro or mega specific, I don’t mind. I just miss the day-to-day collaboration and troubleshooting a bit, not being staff anymore. I’m flexible but will obviously fit it around my paid work: my midlife crisis is going to be both spectacular and expensive. Here’s a bit about my experience. I’m at emma.price.stories@gmail.com.
To pay or not to pay?
I’m still figuring Substack out. I might start adding the odd benefit or feature to paying subscribers, but for the foreseeable, this will be a free newsletter. The paid/patronage option is there for anyone who finds What Good Stories valuable and can afford to support it financially. If you sign up to paid but change your mind – just go back to a free subscription and I won’t get notified.
If I take a break for a month or more, I’ll pause paid subscriptions.
Whatever you decide to do, thanks for your support!
